We are situated in the Lot-et-Garonne on the border of of the Dordogne region and there are many chateaux for you to visit. On the upper reaches of the river Dordogne you can find perhaps a selection of the most spectacular - Baynac, Castelnaud-la-chappelle, Chateau Biron and Chateau Milandes to name a few. Many of these chateaux are open year round but it's always best to check it out before going to make sure.

The local areas famous bastide towns are fantastic places to visit. These fortified towns are not only beautiful but are steeped in history. Eymet is perhaps the most well known and is only a 10 minute drive from La Catusse. It is a great place to visit with restaurants and bars, a market every Thursday morning and a night market on Tuesdays during July and August with street food available. There are some others we feel merit a mention but there are so many smaller and less well recognised towns and villages that are well worth a visit. Here is a short lis of our local favourites - Monpazier, Villeréal, Monflanquin and Issigeac. Further afield you can head east to Sarlat-le-Canada, Domme and La Roque Gageac .

There are endless possibilities for wine tasting from stopping at the roadside sign for "degustation de vin" to the more formal and organised winery visits with wine tasting as a part of the tour. Some vignerons give the option of snack food like a charcuterie board as a part of the experience. Domaine Les Bertins is a local producer that has wine tasting evenings in a lovely setting. Chateau La Fayolle is another that is worth a visit. If you need more information just ask but if you like wine you are coming to the right place !

Walking choices in the local area are many and varied with something to suit everyone. Many towns & villages have dedicated routes from central starting points with maps showing details of the route with distances and approximate times to complete the walks. Local tourist offices will also be happy to help you choose. We have also done many of the walks and can supply you with laminated cards to help you find the right path !
